update to number 1 from yesterday.

I do not like my haircut. I wasn't sure yesterday. I didn't tell her how I wanted it, just an range of length. She went in the shorter of the range and I am not liking it. Hopefully it grows fast.

O, well. Only hair.

my life in a nutshell

10 thoughts from pulled my my head

1. I got my haircut today.
2. I locked my keys AND the spare key (long story that includes Alicia) in the van today. First time. My insurance does cover it!
3. I am ready for school to be done.
4. The kids have had more games rained out this season then they have actually played. But somehow practices are always on good days so my kids are bored of practices.
5. I love my kindle. But now I have to be good about buying books so I am looking for things to trade-in at amazon.com so I can get credit there.
6. My van is getting detailed in 10 days, carpets and upholstery!
7. I think I am ready for my summer school with the kids, 8 weeks of lesson plans. Can't wait.
8. Alicia goes to summer camp for the first time this year, in June. I am anxious and she is excited.
9. Ethan is growing his hair out.
10. Ethan turns 6 next week so I am planning a lego party.

So some of you have noticed it has been a bit since my last post. I haven't really been in the mood to be on the computer much lately. Maybe it's my new kindle, maybe it's too much going on in my head, maybe it's the time the computer takes away from my home duties, but I just haven't wanted to get on here much. :)

But I am good, the kids are busy with T-ball or baseball, I love my kindle---love it too much as I want to keep buying books.

Kim, or you out there? Are you going to France? If you are around Happy Birthday a few days early.

Okay I am OUT

on its way

I have been saving and saving and last weekend I bought a kindle from amazon.com! It isn't here yet. I think it will be tomorrow or Monday. But I can go on to amazon.com now and order books and they are supposed to be there when I open it up! So I have been looking for free books and ordering those. I am so anxious to see what I think. I know I will love having 5-6 books on it this summer while we are on vacation. Books can take so much room up and now I don't have to worry about that anymore. I can also change books without climbing around in the van looking for a new book. I am hoping I don't regret not getting an ipad. But an ipad is So expensive and really big. I touched one today though and I liked having the web right at my fingertips. It would also be great for movies. I am trying not to let doubt take away my excited feelings. I CAN'T WAIT!

spring sports

We (we is used lightly, it is mostly Ben) have been busy with sports for the kids. Ethan wanted to play t-ball again this year and then Alicia decided she wanted to try out baseball. We thought that baseball would be like T-ball last year, it's not, so we signed both of them up. You have to put in community hours or pay more money to the league so Ben is Alicia's teams coach. They play games twice a week and practice one time a week. Ethan practices once a week and plays games on Saturday. So needless to say almost every day of the week has one of our kids with a ball and bat. The saddest thing is that the weather has not been cooperating. Alicia has been practicing for about 4 weeks but they just had their first game last night! And Ethan played his first game Saturday after their first two games got canceled as the teams did not show up! It has not been our best season for sports. The kids are tired of it already and ready to move on to soccer. But that isn't until fall.

Last night Alicia made us proud. The kids are allowed 5 pitches, after 4 they can ask for the T for the last pitch. Alicia was sure she would have to use the T but all 4 times up to bat she hit the ball on her own and she was a great second baseman. I wasn't sure how she was going to play but she was down right GOOD. It was nice to finally get a game in, even if it did sprinkle a bit at the beginning.

This last picture is mostly so you can check out the clouds! Those are some angry ones!

"Mommy and Me Tea"

Today I had a date with my little boy. It was the "Mommy and Me Tea" that the Preschool and Kindergarten students do with their moms. We get dressed up and go to Deepwood Estates, learn manners, eat scones with tea, and then let the butterflies they have grown out in the beautiful gardens.

I have not been feeling very good all week and last night I was so afraid I wasn't going to be in good shape for the "date." But the tea they served was so perfect for my throat. I actually detest tea but this stuff was so good I had three little tea cups full. I also wrote the name down so I can buy myself some more, The Republic of Tea, Vanilla and Almond Black Tea. I actually felt fairly good this morning, again because of this blessed tea, but once I got home I wilted. I am telling myself that it is okay to be sick now so that in one month when we go on vacation I will be healthy.

It was a very nice day. It was the perfect way to kick of Mother's Day Weekend. :)

Proud of my GIRL!

Last night was a big night for Alicia. She finished her third year in Sparks at Awana. She also made sure she finished her book a few weeks ago so she could get her third book plaque. She has gotten the ribbons for the first and second books but she really wanted a "plaque." She was so proud of herself so we made sure to make the day all about her hard work.

Only 3 kids got this award last night and only two were there to get them, Alicia and her good friend Brior.

The evening was almost ruined when I got to the Award ceremony and saw they had not put Alicia down for her third year award but for her second! So I had to go find the Commander and make sure they called her up and gave her the third year plaque. Thankfully Alicia never knew there was a hiccup.

Next year she will be in the older kids group, T&T, Truth and Training. I cannot believe she is getting so grown up. :) At least I still have my bubby, Ethan. He still has two Spark years left. He has to work this summer on finishing his first year book though. He doesn't have the work ethic his sister has. :) (These are the three Kindergarten cousins, Drew, Ethan and Anna.)

Excuse the pictures. Our church is so dark and it takes horrible pictures!

Barnes & Nobles has a great summer reading program available for grades 1-6:

1. Read any eight books this summer and record them in this Passport.
Be sure to document the location you visit in each book.
2. Bring your completed Passport to a Barnes & Noble store between May 25 and September 7, 2010.
3. Choose your FREE reading adventure from the book list featured on the back of your Passport. Your name will be automatically entered in the autographed book sweepstakes.

I love getting free books and it will be fun for the kids to go in and pick one off the list! But you can only do this offer once, so no double dipping.
