Snow Days

Yesterday we got a nice amount of snow. I wasn't sure we would have church but we went and when we got home the kids and Ben made a snowman. This was the first time we have had enough snow in our own backyard to make a real size snowman. The kids had a blast! Then we headed down to Creswell so my dad could work on Alicia's grand prix car for AWANA. I was not sure this was a wise move but when we got to Jefferson I realized not everyone was getting their fair share of snow. It was safe drving until we hit Springfield where they actually had a tad more snow then we did in Stayton. It was fun for the kids to get to play in snow with my parents and then we headed back home. This morning there was just a dusting more on top of our now crusty yesterday snow, but no school. So the kids were out by 8 to play some more.

beach trip

Call us crazy but we headed out to the Lincoln City today. Ben will be working CPA hours here soon so we decided to get our last beach trip in for a few months. (Last week Ben too the kids to the zoo in the freezing weather.) It was a good time. It rained the entire ride over and really started to pour about 10 minutes outside of Lincoln City. But as we got there it stopped raining. We always go to the less crowded beach to the right as you come into town. So we bundled up in coats, gloves, hats, scarves. Not the normal gear we usually wear to the beach. It was high tide as we got there so we were excited to start looking for shells. Half way down the beach we realized as the waves brought in the smooth, soft rocks they would roll and tumble over each other. It made this sound that Alicia said sounded like fireworks. I think it reminded my of a windchime. It was really beautiful.
After our 40 minutes on the beach we went to lunch and then headed home. It was a nice family day.

Update

Well I had our meeting. I think considering we are all very different women and I have had time to think and pray about this that they did fairly well. I guess I was hoping for them to jump up and down with me but they all had really good and valid points and ideas. So we are all going to be praying. That is all I can ask for at this point. But I did tell them that no matter where we go I am not going to lead women's ministry after this year. It felt good to let them know and to bring up feelings I had. They are good women.
My friend Karen had this verse in her blog today. So I will leave you to meditate on it like I have all day.

“As the sky soars high above earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think.”- Isaiah 55:9 (Message)

Women's Ministry

Tonight I have a women's ministry meeting. I have been pretty discouraged when it comes to this area in my life. I knew God called me to this position but I was never really sure why. Still have no clue. But I have been talking with some ladies and we have some very new ideas that I have to bring up tonight. If you can remember can you pray tonight that the ladies all agree and that we act as one. I want to serve and please the Lord but I want to get along with the ladies I go to church with. Our church is at a really fun and scary stage. We are growing so fast and so everything we have done in the past has to be rethought. Some of the ladies on my board are not real fond of change but they are also ladies who love to serve Him. Just a real exciting scary time.

Tuesdays chore

I am in the last stages of pulling Christmas decorations down this morning. I KNOW! It is January why are they still up. I am taking the decorations down above our gas fireplace. There used to be pictures there and so now I am looking at these pictures deciding which ones willl go back up and which ones need to be updated. Sadly I have no pictures of my son, who is 3 so you can tell when the last time I updated was. I just added a picture of my two red heads with Belle at Disney World. The picture is a year old but until I get to go back this next year and take more pictures this will have to do. O, the Disney withdrawls I have. Cannot wait to go back in January 2009 when we will take my hubbys parents.

I am a blogger!

As you can see, this is my very first post in my very first blog. I am excited to allow some of my friends who I rarely see to stay up with what our family goes through on a day to day basis. I also find it a great way to journal what God has done in our lives, what we are learning, what trials we are going through and hope to be able to look back and see that we have changed. So bare with me as you keep up with the lives of these red-headed Wilson's.
